I have tried both Listerine Total Care mouthwash and ACT Restoring Mouthwash. They are anticavity mouthwashes that contain Sodium fluoride as the active ingredient. Like toothbrushes, I do not know if one helps your teeth more than another but I can tell you this, Listerine Total Care burned the inside of my mouth and probably would do the same to yours too.
The burn resulted in peeling inside my mouth; I could feel a layer of skin in my mouth flapping back and forth when I put my tongue to it. Sometimes I would get a white filmy layer of residue inside my mouth from using the mouthwash and I would have to use my fingers or tongue to pick it out of my mouth.
Sodium laurly sulfate and phophoric acid is listed on the back of the bottle as inactive ingredients. I’m no scientist but I believe one or both of them is causing the burn. I do not recommend Listerine Total Care at all. It might be a sodium fluoride mouthwash that does its job well but the side effects are just too much.

I have been using listerine total care for over a year now in over recommended doses n no problems!!! maybe yall mouth really dirty.. it burns but it cleans.. LTC gos hard stop hatin cuz yall got dirty mouths
I used listerine for 3 weeks morning and night due to mild gingivits, I stopped 2 days ago as I also have while skin coming off inside my left cheek near back molars, my gums and tongue feel burnt. Gingivitis has definately gone but I am now worried about the damage it may have caused inside my mouth. I would NOT recommend Listerine, they are many other less harsher products on the market. Listerine is like pouring DRANO into your mouth.

UGH! i too have fallen 4 this lysterine monster,this was my first time trying it& within 4 weeks i have this white slimy film
coming out of my mouth but no burns i used a mouthful & only used it once at night but i swished for only 20 secs. its embarrising having film come over your teeth during the day or tryna pick it out in public. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! we should sue these lysterine makers!!!
I’m in intense pain because of this product. I used it sporadically for a while then began using it regularly, once a night, for a few weeks. My tongue began to bother me and I noticed a dark purple color toward the back, near my throat. The discoloration and increasing pain migrated to the tip of my tongue and outer edges, to my gums, my cheeks, and the roof of my mouth. I can hardly speak, let alone eat anything. I will probably have to see a doctor and may sue Johnson & Johnson, whom I have contacted. I don’t see how I can even conduct a normal day of business with this level of pain.
All because I wanted to kill germs as an addition to brushing.
